@Vesa thanks for the link. I did not know anything about the Abatwa.

are these masks digital or photos of a mask project?

~Dissolution~ photographed on 10-27-09- the woven cardboard strips are laid at the base of a Douglass fur. Also present are the decaying leaves of the big leaf maple, lichens and a myriad of other detritus...

~Dissolution~ photographed on 10-27-09- The woven cardboard strips are weaving deeper into the duff... The strips have been exposed to the elements for roughly 2 months now.... the rainy season is upon us... what will they look like in another 2 months?

~Elemental Soup~ Calcium carbonate, iron oxide, aluminum silicates, and a touch of manganese oxide..... the pretty sludge in the pan of my rock grinder.....

Paintings by Kim Richardson of St. Louis, Missouri...

@Vesa Love this. The beautiful fractal geometries that nature expresses in continually amaze me. The efficiency of form and proportions are amazing, beautiful and inspiring.....

I revived cardboard strips as my material for the object afterlife challenge. I had a lots of fun exploring the material and the structural properties of the cardboard strips. At first it was difficult to let loose but once I let go of my bias against ephemeral materials I made lots of discoveries and had a lot of fun.

~Interdimensional Phoenix~ I made this sculpture out of cardboard strips for the Afterlife Art Challenge hosted by Bring and M.E.C.C.A. of Eugene Oregon. www.bringrecycling.org/... www.materials-exchange.org The challenge was to use some form of recycled or discard material that was given to you.

~Dissolution~ a few days later, it has rained and the cardboard seems to be weaving itself into the duff...... the cardboard weaving has experienced approximately 2 weeks of weather.

-Dissolution- This is a weaving I did with cardboard strips left over from the Object Afterlife Art Challenge. I want to document and witness the dissolution and decay of the cardboard weaving over time. The weaving has probably been in the elements for over a week when this image was taken.

The Elk that once used this skull was poached for his Antlers, and left to rot... Pazyrryk and I collaborated on this relic with an intent of paying respects to the Elk by restoring the antlers with scavenged recycled copper wire.
